Tenants Sought for Bedford Depot

A landmark local property is now available for rent. For a limited time, the Town of Bedford will entertain proposals from parties who are interested in renting one or more rooms at Bedford Railroad Station. The historic building at 80 Loomis Street is located in an area that is zoned for "mixed use."

Allowable uses include:  business or professional office, educational, religious, philanthropic, lodge and club, wireless communications facilities, personal service shop, research facility, retail store, restaurant, bank, child care, indoor amusement, repair shop and building trade. Certain uses may be restricted and/or require a permit from the Town.

The Depot is located adjacent to the popular Minuteman Bikeway. Public parking is available at the site.

Bedford Depot was built by the Middlesex Central Railroad circa 1874. It was last used as an active railway station in 1958. The municipality acquired the property in 1999 as part of the overall Depot Park project.

A recent architectural study finds that the Depot is in good general condition. The building’s exterior was painted last fall. Also, the Town put a new cedar roof on the Depot in 2009.
